WELCOME TO RHODE RIVER BOAT SALES

RR

What can a guy say but, “Thank you Rhode River Boat Sales.”

Rhode River cares about Hartford hockey and they care about their customers. Don’t let their Maryland address fool you. They can get a quality boat to you wherever you may be and they can do it at great savings to you too.

This says a lot about you the loyal Howlings readers. This says that this company believes that you are the kind of people who would be interested in purchasing a boat so they are investing in Howlings as a sign of it.

If you have any interest in boating, check them out on the web at RhodeRiverMarina.com. If you want to see us succeed here people need to go and take a look.

The more advertisers that we have the better we can do and the more that we will be able to bring to you. Ultimately, that’s the plan…

Once again, thank you Rhode River Boat Sales. You’ve made our day.

SPOTLIGHT: KELSEY TESSIER

Bruce Berlet 7BY: Bruce Berlet

Kelsey Tessier prides himself in being a responsible two-way player with lots of grit and a penchant for doing little things such as finishing checks and getting up the opposition’s skin, a major reason he received the Seventh Player/Unsung Hero Award from the media as a rookie pro last season.

In his second pro go-around in Hartford, Tessier has again added a third major quality, mentor to two more of the smallest players on the Connecticut Whale. Just as he did with the Quebec Remparts, Tessier has been a kind of a guidance counselor to rookie forwards Ryan Bourque and Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, former teammates in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League who share an apartment in downtown Hartford a few floors from Tessier.

SPOTLIGHT: WHO’S PLAYING AND WHERE?

Bruce Berlet 7BY: Bruce Berlet

Connecticut Whale defenseman Pavel Valentenko is sometimes self-conscious about his English.

But the personable Russian has certainly improved on the official language of the United States since arriving in Hartford two years ago. And he was right on in the clearest terms Tuesday night, when asked why the Whale has won five of six games to move into first place in the Northeast Division.

FAN-FARE: The Art of the Undrafted

Nhl_logoBY: Adam Gavriel

We all know the stories about the kid from Canada playing in the OHL who went undrafted and is now a future all-star in the NHL. We know the story about the kid from Norway who took the Swedish Elite League by storm and now is in North America on a professional contract. Of course we know about those stories because we are Rangers fans. The Dan Girardi’s and Mats Zuccarello’s of the world are hard to find, but when found can prove a valuable asset to an NHL organization.

SPOTLIGHT: MOVEMBER

Bruce Berlet 7BY: Bruce Berlet

Brendan Bell’s wife might not be enamored with his latest bit of facial hair, but he’s the early leader for best moustache on the Connecticut Whale during the always worthwhile Movember cause.

During Movember – the month formerly known as November – people worldwide sprout moustaches to raise money and awareness for men’s health issues, particularly prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. It started in Australia in 2003 and then spread to South Africa and Europe, reaching American shores five years ago. In 2010 alone, more than 64,500 Mo brothers and sisters got on board in the United States, raising $7.5 million.
