GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Road Warriors unveiled today moment number eight in their countdown of the top 10 moments from their inaugural season in the ECHL. The countdown will continue next week with moment number seven.
On Friday, April 15 the Road Warriors hosted the Wheeling Nailers in Game Two of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Greenville needed a win to even the series at one game each before the scene shifted to Wheeling for the next three games of the best-of-seven series. Shane Harper put the Road Warriors up 1-0 with a late first period goal and 13 saves by Nic Riopel through two periods had Greenville ahead going into the third period. Wheeling’s Tim Crowder quickly wiped the advantage away with his first goal of the playoffs 42 seconds into the third. With neither team able to score again in regulation, overtime was needed to decide the winner.
It turned out to be the Road Warriors’ leading scorer from the regular season, Jimmy Kilpatrick, who provided the exciting finish to Game Two.
