Tonight the Greenville Road Warriors will try to slow down the high-flying Kalamazoo Wings and earn consecutive road victories for the second time this season.
The Road Warriors (9-7-0) visit Kalamazoo (10-5-1) tonight for the first of four scheduled meetings between the clubs. Fans can follow the action by watching live on America One or listening at www.greenvilleroadwarriors.com. Tonight is Greenville’s fourth visit in its history to Wings Stadium and the Road Warriors are looking to continue their high-scoring ways here. In the one prior meeting between the clubs in Cincinnati, the Cyclones came away with a 4-3 overtime win on February 25, 2011. The Road Warriors’ defense will be tested by a Wings attack that leads the ECHL with an average of 3.69 goals per game.
The Road Warriors are 14-3-0 in their history against North Division opponents. They have the most wins against Kalamazoo, Cincinnati, and Toledo (3) among current North Division teams.
Goalie Nic Riopel is tied for second in the league with nine wins this season. He is 19-3-1 in his last 23 regular season starts dating back to February 2011.
The Road Warriors are 2-2-0 on their seven-game road trip. Their win last night broke a two-game road losing streak.
After three assists last night, Jeff Prough leads Greenville in three points games (3) and multi-point games (7). He is tied for fifth in the league with 21 points.
With last night’s win Greenville has, for the first time this season, more wins when scoring first (5) than when giving up the first goal of the game (4).
