The Road Warriors (13-8-0) host Florida (12-12-2) tonight for the sixth of 11 scheduled meetings between the clubs. Fans can follow the action by watching live on America One or listening at www.greenvilleroadwarriors.com. Tonight is Florida’s first visit to the BI-LO Center since winning 5-2 on November 5. The Road Warriors won the first two games against Florida this season but are 1-2-0 since against the Everblades which includes a 5-0 loss in Florida on November 19 – the most recent meeting between the teams. With tonight’s game, it looks like one of two trends will have to buckle. The Road Warriors have held opponents to two goals or less in each of their last five home games, but have kept Florida to two goals or less just once this season. Defense hasn’t been prevalent in the season series, period, as the Road Warriors and Everblades are combining to average 7.6 goals per game.
The Road Warriors are hosting their second-annual Teddy Bear Toss to benefit WSSL 100.5’s Stuff the Truck and Toys for Tots. They are asking all fans to bring a new or gently used stuffed animal to tonight’s game and throw it onto the ice when the Road Warriors score their first goal. Tonight is also a Spinx Family Four-Pack night with the Road Warriors. Fans coming to the game can get four tickets, four hot dogs, four fountain drinks, and four bags of chips for just $48!
Only four teams have been shorthanded fewer times than Greenville’s 94. They set a season-best last Thursday vs. Gwinnett with two penalty minutes and one time shorthanded.
Rookie Kale Kerbashian has found a knack for scoring big goals for the Road Warriors. Of the four that he has scored on the season, two have been game winners.
The Road Warriors have the fifth-highest win percentage in the ECHL when scoring the first goal of the game (.778).
The Road Warriors have been held without a power play goal in two straight games and are scoreless in their last 10 chances on the power play.
Greenville has held opponents to two goals or fewer in each of its last five home games. For the season, the Road Warriors have a 3.0 goals-against average at home.
