–The Rangers were defeated by the Dallas Stars, 1-0, tonight at Madison Square Garden. After two scoreless periods, the Stars’ Trevor Daley tallied the game’s only goal with 4:59 remaining in regulation.
–New York is now 17-7-4 (38 pts) on the season, including an 8-3-2 record at home. The Rangers’ seven regulation losses are tied for the fewest in the league.
–The Blueshirts held the Stars scoreless in two shorthanded situations (4:00), and have now held their opponent scoreless on the power play in four straight games (16-16, 100.0% over the span) while tallying three shorthanded goals during the stretch. The Rangers’ penalty kill is 26-28 (92.9%) in the last nine games.
Give Herm Sorcher and the boys credit for producing entertainment…Okay, Herm won’t be getting an Emmy nomination any time soon, but this is the beauty of minor league hockey…it’s all about having a good time.
NEW YORK RANGERS SEASON SUBSCRIBER FAN FEST POSTPONED TO SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10th DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
New York, August 26, 2011 – The Rangers Season Subscriber Fan Fest scheduled for Saturday, August 27th will be postponed due to inclement weather forecasted. Fan Fest is rescheduled for Saturday, September 10th at the MSG Training Center. Please note this is a ticketed event and is not open to the general public.

“What we’re probably going to do at this event is … formally release the schedule to the fans and we’re also going to do Danbury Whalers trivia night in which we’re gonna ask 10 questions and the fan who gets all of them right is going to win a Whalers Prize Pack,” said the team’s Assistant General Manager, Keith Lombard.
The Fan Caravan’s combination of team information and freebies is something that team CEO Herm Sorcher and the rest of the Danbury Whalers organization have found to be successful in the past to keep Whalers hockey on the minds of all its fans until the home opener on Oct. 27.
The two day camp held Friday and Saturday was a chance for players with different skill levels and experience take to the ice and show what they are made of in hopes of getting a call back to the Whalers training camp.
While his name is very familiar, it’s not the same guy… although after spending some time talking to him, you get to see that he has the same energy level and demands on those who want to be on the team’s roster.

Danbury Whalers president and general manager, Herm Sorcher announced are the resigning of forward/defenseman Lynn Beedle for the 2011-12 hockey season.
Beedle, a native of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, played in 31 games tallying three goals and five assists while playing a key role for the Whalers last season centering the team’s checking line. His versatility to play both up front and on the blue line provided the team far greater lineup flexibility when late season injuries became an issue.
