The University of Connecticut women’s hockey team will host their annual Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer game Saturday at 4 p.m. against third-ranked Boston University at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs.
The Huskies, who entered a game at BU on Friday night on a five-game winning streak, have raised more than $31,000 in the past four years for the program, the most in the Hockey East conference since the inception of Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer.
The Huskies will continue their fundraising efforts at Saturday’s game as fans are encouraged to visit the marketing table inside Freitas Ice Forum where they can support the team and the Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer program. Interested fans can purchase a Skating Strides T-shirt for $5, a “Pink Skate” that will be posted around the rink for $1, Hockey East merchandise and much more.
The Huskies will play Providence on Feb. 13 in the finale of “UConn Day” in the “Harvest-Properties.com Whalers Hockey Fest” at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. “UConn Day” will start with an alumni skate at 9-10:15 a.m., followed by a family skating session from 10:15 to 11 and then lunch in the club room in the suites. The UConn men’s hockey team will play Sacred Heart at 1 p.m., and the women then will face the Lady Friars at 4 p.m.
