PUCKS AND PAWS TO TAKE PLACE SATURDAY, MARCH 24

The BI-LO Center will go to the dogs on Saturday, March 24 when the Road Warriors host Pucks and Paws presented by Cleveland Park Animal Hospitals and Upstate Veterinary Specialists.

For Pucks and Paws Night the Road Warriors are inviting all fans to bring their friendly dogs with them to the game. It will not cost fans anything extra to bring a dog to the game; just buy a ticket and your pup gets to come enjoy the game with you! The night will include a dog fun zone, a Small Dog Derby on the ice, fun treats for the dogs, and more! Dogs are allowed to sit with their owners anywhere in the arena except for Sections 110, 111, and 112. Those sections are reserved as dog-free sections, and any fan who wishes to sit away from the dogs can request a seat in one of those sections.

WARRIORS AND GLADIATORS GO AT IT AGAIN

The Greenville Road Warriors will travel down I-85 this evening to pay a visit to the division-leading Gwinnett Gladiators. It is the fourth of six straight games for Greenville away from the BI-LO Center.

The Road Warriors (26-16-2, 54 pts.) visit Gwinnett (23-12-10, 56 pts.) today for the 10th of 17 meetings this season between the clubs. Fans can follow the action by watching live on America One or listening at  Greenvilleroadwarriors.com. The Road Warriors are 6-3-0 this season against the Gladiators and 16-10-0 overall in their history against Gwinnett. The Road Warriors enter play today two points back of division co-leaders Gwinnett and South Carolina, but could find themselves back in first in the division with a win and a South Carolina loss in Cincinnati. Greenville is looking to bounce back from a pair of one-goal losses suffered in succession in Gwinnett on January 14 and 16. Those Gwinnett victories were part of the Gladiators’ current eight-game home winning streak which is the longest running in the ECHL.

ROAD WARRIORS GOING GREEN ON SUNDAYS

The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that they will wear alternate green third jerseys for all of their Sunday home games this season. The Road Warriors‘ third jerseys are presented by Select Physical Therapy.

“We realize the importance of Sunday and families being together. That’s why we want to wear a special jersey on those days, it also celebrates the great family traditions here in Greenville,” said Road Warriors president and general manager Neil Smith.

BIG TROUBLE IN GREENVILLE

GREENVILLE, SC The Greenville Road Warriors‘ mascot, Rowdy the Road Hog, is missing the team announced this morning.

“We are very concerned regarding the whereabouts of Rowdy. He is a beloved member of the Road Warriors family and the Greenville community. It is our hope than anyone with information that could lead to Rowdy’s return would come forward. We have two important home games this weekend and we need Rowdy to be here for them,” said Road Warriors president and general manager Neil Smith.

Rowdy the Road Hog was last seen leaving the Roper Mountain Holiday Lights display around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. He was returning to the BI-LO Center where he was going to begin preparing for Greenville’s two home games against the Florida Everblades this weekend. Rowdy was wearing his usual game day attire which is his Road Warriors jersey, leg armor, battle axe, shield, and helmet.

ROAD WARRIORS SOFT SIDE SHOWING ANNOUNCING A TEDDY BEAR TOSS

The Greenville Road Warriors will host their second-annual Teddy Bear Toss on Friday, December 16 at their game against the Florida Everblades at the BI-LO Center.

“The Teddy Bear Toss is one of our favorite promotions of the season. First, it benefits a great cause – Toys for Tots and second, it creates a really fun atmosphere when fans have the opportunity to throw stuffed animals onto the ice. Everyone with the Road Warriors is looking forward to a great response from our fans, and is hoping to collect more bears for the children this holiday season,” said Road Warriors president and general manager Neil Smith.

GREENVILLE GOES BETWEEN THE PIPES

GREENVILLE, SC The Greenville Road Warriors ECHL hockey club announced today that “Between the Pipes,” an hour-long radio show on ESPN Radio 1440, will air for the first time on Monday, October 10, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

“Between the Pipes” will broadcast live from Ford’s Oyster House and Cajun Kitchen, 631 S. Main St. Downtown Greenville, every Monday during the season from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Fans can expect the show to deliver all the excitement of Road Warriors hockey with prize giveaways, behind-the-scenes insight about the team, and a chance to enjoy the great food at Ford’s. If you can’t make it to the show in person, you can catch it live on ESPN Radio 1440 AM.

ENTIRE ORGANIZATION NOW ON THE BRINK

The entire New York Rangers organization now sits on the verge of elimination. The Rangers are down three games to one to the Washington Capitols. The two teams meet for an elimination game Saturday afternoon at 3pm. The AHL-affiliate, Connecticut Whale trail the Portland Pirates (Buffalo Sabres) three games to two and hope to stay alive in Game Six on Saturday night. Now, after Friday night’s 2-1 loss, the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL, Neil Smith’s team that the Rangers share with the Philadelphia Flyers, find themselves down three games to one to the Wheeling Nailers (Pittsburgh Penguins / Montreal Canadiens). Game Five of that series is also on Saturday night. It is completely possible that the entire organization could be out of the playoffs by the end of the night on Saturday.

WHEELING, WV The Greenville Road Warriors lost a one-goal decision to the Wheeling Nailers, 2-1, on Friday night and fell behind three games to one in their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Game Five is Saturday, April 23 in Wheeling with a 7:35 p.m. start time.
