TONIGHT’S GAME:
The Rangers will face-off against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center (7:00 p.m.; TV: MSG 2; Radio: Bloomberg Radio), in an Atlantic Division match-up. The Blueshirts currently sit atop the Eastern Conference standings, and rank first in the league overall, with a record of 42-15-7 (91 pts.). The Rangers enter the contest having defeated the Boston Bruins, 4-3, on Sunday at Madison Square Garden for their fourth win in five games, and are now 13-3-3 in their last 19 games. The Devils enter the contest with a 36-24-5 (77 pts.) record to rank sixth in the Eastern Conference, and have lost five of their last six games. Following the contest, the Rangers will face-off against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, Mar. 8, at Scotiabank Place (7:30 p.m.), to begin a back-to-back road set.

The Blueshirts currently rank second in the Atlantic Division standings, and fourth in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 19-8-4 (42 pts). The Rangers enter the contest having defeated the New Jersey Devils, 4-1, on Tuesday at Prudential Center for their second straight win, and are 4-2-0 in their last six games. The Blueshirts have now registered at least one point in 18 of their last 23 games (16-5-2). The Islanders enter the contest with an 11-14-6 (28 pts) record to rank 14th in the Eastern Conference, and have won their last two games in the shootout. Following tomorrow’s contest, the Rangers will face-off against the Philadelphia Flyers tomorrow, Dec. 23, at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m.), to close out their back-to-back home set.

The Blueshirts currently rank second in the Atlantic Division standings, and fourth in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 18-8-4 (40 pts). The Rangers enter the contest having defeated the Phoenix Coyotes, 3-2, on Saturday at Jobing.com Arena, and have now registered at least one point in 17 of their last 22 games (15-5-2). The Devils enter the contest with a 18-13-1 (37 pts) record to rank sixth in the Eastern Conference, and have won their last four games. Following tomorrow’s contest, the Rangers will face-off against the New York Islanders on Thursday, Dec. 22, at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m.), in the first of back-to-back home games.

The storm that they have now nicknamed “Alfred” continues to devastate all of Connecticut. Reports state that this storm caused the most damage in state history including the Hurricane Irene that happened just two moths ago.

PRE-SEASON: RANGERS KNOCK OFF DEVILS

 VERSUS     

With an 5-4 afternoon OT win by the AHL bound New York Rangers and a late goal from defenseman Brendan Bell Friday night for a 4-3 win, the Blueshirts completed a double-header sweep of the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center in pre-season action. The win for the Rangers avenged a 2-1 overtime loss to the same Devils Wednesday night in Albany and brought the Blueshirts record to 1-0-1-0 after two preseason games.

DANBURY ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR 2012

Today at the Danbury Ice Arena in Danbury, Connecticut, the Danbury Whalers announced the team’s complete home and away game schedule. The Federal Hockey League, in its second season will play a 53 game schedule over a 19-week period. The schedule features 27 home games, 25 road games, and one neutral site.

The Danbury Whalers season gets underway with an Opening Weekend of games. The club will drop the puck on Thursday, October 27th, when they take on the New Jersey Outlaws. The Outlaws are coached by former Danbury Whalers Head Coach, Chris Firriolo.

The following night, Friday, October 28th, the Whalers travel to New Jersey to take on the Outlaws in their road opener.

On Saturday, October 29th, the Whalers return to Danbury and will face the Cape Cod Bluefins.

The home schedule breakdowns as follows, there will be 9 Saturday games, 9 Fridays, 2 Sunday games, 5 Wednesdays, and 2 Thursdays. The 53rd game on the schedule is a neutral site game in Lewiston, Maine against the Danville Dashers.

The opponent breakdown for the Danbury Whalers will be New Jersey & Cape Cod 11 times each, Brooklyn 10 times, Vermont 7 times, 1000 Islands & Danville 5 times each, and the defending champion Akwesasne Warriors 4 times.

Home game times for the Danbury Whalers are still to be determined.

Individual game tickets for the Danbury Whalers will go on sale on Saturday, September 10th at noon.

For season ticket holders, the season ticket package at the time it was sold was based on a 30 game home season. With 27 home games scheduled, the Whalers are currently seeking to add additional home dates and or include playoff games as part of the plan. Further updates will be provided.

PLAYING CATCH-UP WITH RUPP

New York RangersRANGERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH FREE AGENT FORWARD MIKE RUPP

New York, July 1, 2011 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent forward Mike Rupp.

Rupp, 31, is a former Stanley Cup Champion with the New Jersey Devils in 2003, having notched one goal and two assists in the Cup-clinching 3-0 victory in Game 7 against Anaheim.  The eight-year NHL veteran has surpassed 100 hits in each of the last five seasons.
