DEFENSEMAN LEE BALDWIN RE-JOINS WHALE

Reassigned from ECHL Greenville

Connecticut Whale general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the parent New York Rangers have reassigned defenseman Lee Baldwin to the Whale from its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Road Warriors.

Baldwin, who had been assigned to Greenville December 1, has skated in eight games with the Whale this year, going scoreless and +1 with eight shots on goal.  In 11 ECHL outings with the Road Warriors, the 6-4, 205-pound second-year pro has scored three goals, tied for tops on the team among defensemen, has nine penalty minutes and is +5, which is tied for third-best on the Greenville squad.

Connecticut WhaleLEE BALDWIN REASSIGNED TO ECHL GREENVILLE

Connecticut Whale general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the parent New York Rangers have reassigned defenseman Lee Baldwin from the Whale to its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Road Warriors.

Baldwin, a second-year pro, is scoreless and +1 in eight games this year with the Whale, with eight shots on goal.  In four ECHL games with the Road Warriors, he has no points, with a +2 and six shots on goal.

Baldwin was signed as a free agent by the Rangers March 22, 2010, out of the University of Alaska-Anchorage.

Connecticut Whale general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the parent New York Rangers have reassigned defenseman Lee Baldwin to the Whale from its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Road Warriors.

After being assigned to the Road Warriors November 3, Baldwin, a second-year pro, was scoreless and +1 in four ECHL games, with five penalty minutes and four shots on goal.  In three games this season with the Whale, Baldwin had no points, with a +2 and six shots on goal.

Tommy Grant arrived in Hartford in late March unheralded but hardly bashful in his demeanor.

Grant had a bit of an edge from the get-go. Nothing cocky, mind you, just an air of confidence that he belonged in the AHL with the Connecticut Whale after his best of four seasons at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Befitting the tenure of his attitude often accompanied by a wry smile, Grant had two assists in his pro debut, a 4-2 loss at the Providence Bruins on March 27 after signing an amateur tryout contract 24 hours earlier and 10 days after completing his senior year at UAA. The Whale brass thought so much of Grant so quickly that they signed him to a free-agent contract two days later.

GAME THREE: NOW WE HAVE A SERIES

In a must-win game for the Connecticut Whale, Sunday evening in Game Three of their first round playoff series, the New York Rangers AHL affiliate used a total team concept from the goaltender on out and knocked off the visiting Portland Pirates and gave themselves a fighting chance to actually come back and make this a series with a 3-1 win in front of 3,102 at the XL Center.

New York RApparently two helpers in your first game can turn some heads. While Connecticut Whale Ken Gernander spoke of being impressed with Tommy Grant in his first game this past weekend, senior brass must have been even moreso as the Rangers have signed Grant to an entry level contract.
