COLLEGE GAME SCHEDULE FOR WHALERS HOCKEY FEST ANNOUNCED
Wesleyan-Trinity, Army-AIC Matchups Added to Outdoor Hockey Festivities at Rentschler Field
Howard L. Baldwin, chairman of Whalers Sports and Entertainment, today announced the schedule of college games for Whalers Hockey Fest 2011 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, CT.
A Nutmeg-State tussle between Wesleyan University and Trinity College, and a New England regional battle pitting Army against American International College (AIC), have been added to the previously-announced outdoor games between the University of Connecticut Men’s Team and Sacred Heart University and the UConn Women’s Team and Providence College.
When asked about his team’s involvement in this historic event, Army Coach Brian Riley commented “Every season you look to create special memories. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us and we’re sure it will create memories that will last a lifetime. We are thankful to Mr. Baldwin and his organization for giving us this opportunity.” AIC Coach Gary Wright also acknowledged the significance of The Yellow Jackets’ involvement in Hockey Fest. “We are excited about having the opportunity to participate in this grand event. It’s a great thing for our college, alumni, and the sport of hockey. Most certainly, it will be a wonderful experience for both teams, possibly punctuated by a few snowflakes.”
The outdoor college action starts with a doubleheader Sunday, February 13. The UConn Men vs. Sacred Heart contest will face off at 1:00 PM, followed by the UConn Women vs. Providence College at 4:00 PM.
Another doubleheader is on tap for Tuesday, February 15, with the Trinity Women’s Team battling Wesleyan at 4:00 PM and those two schools’ men’s squads hitting the ice at 8:15 PM.
Then on Saturday, February 19, Army and AIC will do battle at 2:00 PM.
