Sunday Faceoff with Providence will now be 2:00 PM

HARTFORD, February 24, 2012:  Whalers Sports & Entertainment president and COO Howard Baldwin, Jr. announced today that the faceoff time for the Connecticut Whale’s home game Sunday, April 1 vs. the Providence Bruins at the XL Center has been changed to 2:00 PM.

The game was originally scheduled to be a 3:00 PM start.

There will be plenty of “fireworks”, on and off the ice, surrounding the Connecticut Whale’s home New Year’s Eve, this Saturday night, at the XL Center against the Springfield Falcons.

The game features a special Holiday start time of 5:00 PM, as the Whale renew acquaintances with their closest regional rival in an I-91 border battle.  And the Whale will be celebrating the coming of the New Year with a special ticket discount, as all upper-level seats for Saturday’s game will be available for only $5 each at the Public Power Ticket Office at the XL Center.

CT Whale Rockin HockeyFun is in the cards this Friday, as Whalers Sports & Entertainment announced today that December 9 is Connecticut Whale trading card collectible night, presented by Webster Bank.

The first five-thousand fans at this Friday’s game at the XL Center vs. the Hershey Bears will receive the first of three special five-card collectible sets, consisting of Whale mainstays Wade Redden, Mats Zuccarello, Kris Newbury, Chad Johnson and Carl Hagelin, who is currently on recall to the parent New York Rangers club.

BRUCE BERLET REPORTS – WHALE OF AN UPDATE FROM MANAGEMENT

Operating a professional sports franchise is never an easy undertaking, but few, if any, companies had more to deal with than Whalers Sports and Entertainment a year ago.

WSE assumed management control of the then Hartford Wolf Pack only 21/2 weeks before the season opener in early October and then had to organize a two-week outdoor extravaganza at Rentschler Field in East Hartford in February for local youth, high school, prep school and college teams. The unprecedented event was capped by a tripleheader of AIC playing Army, followed by a Hartford Whalers-Boston Bruins alumni game and an AHL game between the rebranded Connecticut Whale and Providence Bruins.

The Connecticut Whale is the focus of Whalers Sports and Entertainment’s business game, and the brainchild of former Hartford Whalers owner and managing general manager partner Howard Baldwin is making a major push to improve its position for its first full season and in the hockey world.

WSE has doubled its season ticket staff from three to six and added Dean Zappalorti and Jenna Miller-Wassell to oversee corporate sponsorships while working with former Whalers center Garry Swain.

Pep Rally-style Event Takes Place at West Hartford’s Blue Back Square

For The Connecticut Whale’s first full season fans will be literally dancing in the streets, as Whalers Sports & Entertainment (WSE) announced today that the Connecticut Whale will host its official “Whale Blue & Green Block Party” Season Face-off event Saturday, October 1 from 6:00-9:00 PM at Blue Back Square in West Hartford.

The Whale Face-off event will take the form of a pep rally, with introductions of the 2011 Whale team and coaching staff, who will also be signing autographs.
